> Photos from Soundtropolis in St. Petersberg last week <

Hi there guys, I managed to track down more photos from the big gig in St. Petersburg last week, or 2 weeks ago, I forget... They are all taken from these sites:

> Oh. My. GOD. <

What a horrendously harsh weekend.

Had 2 gigs, Kaliningrad (russia) and the SMS Festival in Germany. Sounds simple right?

The gigs were great, and I guess I've managed to blank out the stress from my mind now, like it was all just a dream, but man, the travelling. Intense. The most time I have spent in a car, like, EVAR.

Here's how it went...

Friday:

Leave the house at noon to go to heathrow airport.

Fly to Frankfurt (1.5 hrs)

Transfer to flight to Gdansk (Poland) - 1hr.

Drive to Polish/Russian Border 2 hours.

Wait at border 2 hours.

Get through border. 1.5 hours.

Wee in a bush in random Russian village, far enough away from army people. 2 minutes.

Drive to Kaliningrad once in Russia 1.5 hours.

(thats 6-7 hours in a car. A pretty ghetto Nissan minibus thing.)No time to stop for food.

Get changed and put on makeup - 15 minutes.

3-5am DJ. And drink bottle of wine. With Ice cubes. Suprisingly good Chilean Sav Blanc - not expected, seeing as we're deep in Russia. :-)

3 hours sleep.

Saturday:

10am leave hotel. Go through all that again, drive, border etc. 5 hours.

Gdansk-Frankfurt 1hr (inc 20 mins sitting up sleep)

4 hour drive to festival place.

Switch cars.

30 mins drive to hotel

15 mins sleep.

25 mins bath and get changed/makeup.

Eat muesli bar. 2 mins.

2-4am onstage.

4 hrs sleep

Sunday:

1030am leave hotel.

Drive 4 hours to Frankfurt airport.

Fly home.

Have bath.

Sleep.

Here's the video anyway... Just doing my bit to dispel the myth that the life of an international superstar Dj isn't always as glamorous as you think ;-)

> Photos from Kaliningrad <

Here's a bunch of photos I found online from the party in Kaliningrad last weekend (the one where I was in cars for 20 hours, and had 6 hours sleep in 3 days)...

> NEW PODCAST - JOHN B LIVE @ URBAN ART FORMS FESTIVAL, AUG 2007 <

Hurrah! We have a new Podcast! Here's a 90 minute set, recorded Live when I played at the Urban Art Forms Festival in Weisen, Austria, on 3 August 2007.

It would help if you subscribe to the podcast through itunes, so we get good chartings and stuff, you can do that HERE

Or alternatively you can see the whole directory of previous podcasts HERE

We've got another Redux show coming up for you next week, all the stuff I played when I did the main stage at the Summer of Love festival in Czech Republic last weekend (minus my suitcase, which I'm still waiting for now, on Tuesday...).

I love you British Airways - hope your baggage handlers are enjoying all my makeup & custom clothes. :-(

> Ode to British Airways Baggage Handlers <

OH, how I love thee BA
you take my suitcase away
its always when I have a super big show
that you neglect to deliver my eyeshadow
from heathrow

its been 5 days now and I don't have my hairdryer
or favourite customised shirts, or ipod charger
I have to perform wearing boring attire
cos you guys lost my stuff, again.
you suck.

Yes. I've stooped that low. It's now Thursday, I last saw my suitcase when I checked it in on Saturday Morning. Luckily I managed to smuggle some MAC eyeshadow through security, but apart from that I had none of my trademark fabulous outfits to wear at teh HEEEWWAGGGGE rave on Saturday night in the Czech Republic. The kids must have wondered what all the fuss was about - while there are probably some very well dressed and made-up BA baggage handlers at Heathrow.... WhY does my suitcase always go missing when it's a BIIIIG event I'm playing at where I really want to show what I do best? They did it to me when I did St. Petersberg massive rave thing to 8000 first, then the Sziget festival in Hungary, , the Estonia trip, the last 3 US gigs and the Monday Madness in Germany and now the SUmmer of Love festival in Czech. I end up having to perform in the same crappy travelling clothes I've been wearing all day, with basic make-up if I'm lucky, makeshift DJ bag from hotel laundry bag, no shaver, borrowed headphones etc etc. JUST NOT COOL.

I hereby dedicate this blog to all those that have had the misfortune to have their trips blighted by crap baggage handling systems. :-(

In other news - the last podcast has been mega popular, my server is struggling, but surviving - and I'm working on a mighty 2 hour electrohouse/techno/prog podcast for the Redux XM Radio show today, so that will be up soon.

Looks like it's that time of year again, and well, I could do with some support... Drum&Bass never really seems to get a look in , apart from a couple of the usual mainstream DnB DJs, and as ever it's mostly dominted by the Tiestos of the world :-( Do me a favour and click on the link and VOTE FOR JOHN B

Thanks!
